1.- Why dreampop?
I actually started making music, and then realized it was dream pop. Then, I thought adding the name Dream to my title would be fitting. I love the etherial, chill, psychedelic sound, as well as the vintage 80’s synth sound. Some of my favorite bands in this genre are Beach House, Tame Impala, Mazzy Star, Blonde Redhead, and The Velvet Underground.
2.- How did you meet (if there are several) and if you are a soloist: How did you start your creative solo process?
I am sort of a solo musician, but my process with my two producers is very collaborative and magical. Beatsumishi is one of the producers and he is from Italy. We met in New York City and have been working on this music project since 2017. He is a technological wizard and it’s a fun creative brainstorm for each song. My other producer is DJ Dadio, who began as a mashup artist and has evolved to create original music with a handful of different vocal artists. We all share the same vision of making electronic futuristic jams.
3.- Where do you frequently create (your) music? In which space (s)? And how do you invest your (their) times in creation?
I create music in both my home and in NYC in a studio with my producers. I invest a lot of time in creation on Ableton and writing new songs. Like most artists, I’ve gone through periods of writer’s block and periods that are intensely creative. I just got my first ukulele, which has helped me to write new songs that are in the process now! I enjoy sitting outside and taking in nature as inspiration, as well as thinking of those I love.
4.- Do you (s) already have live concerts? What are the most important and where did they go?
I haven’t done any big concerts yet, but it is a dream I hope to accomplish soon. I performed at my friend’s property in the desert of Southern California socially distanced in 2020, and that was a breathtaking stage.
5.- What do you think is the ep or hit song of your band and why?
My cover of The Moon Song got a lot of traction. Many fans gave the feedback that it helps them relax when feeling stressed. I was so happy to have the ability to change a listener’s mood and bring them relief. My original song that is my favorite is called Smoking Together. My cannabis women friends from The Pink Sesh (@thepinksesh) helped create a Covid-19 music video, all smoking in our homes.
6.- What references did you take to create your music?
I have had an eclectic music taste since I was little. Some references I’ve taken to create my music are 80’s movie synth soundtracks, like John Hughs films The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I also love artists like Clairo, Bork, Grimes, Toro y Moi, Crumb, TOPS, and The Maria’s.
7.- What do you enjoy most of your music?
I enjoy being inventive and putting together a piece of music I’m proud of, as well as the entire process. I prefer a recording studio to a stage because I can just be alone, feeling the music in a little box. It’s exciting to hear different vocal effects and work on several songs at once.
9.- What do you think about the creation of the Dream Dream pop platform? Do you think (s) that this space is necessary?
I do think it’s very necessary to have this platform for Dream Pop artists! Thank you for bringing together artists and shining a light on the many talented musicians in the genre. It is so cool to connect with people from around the world through this platform and our mutual love of dreamy sounds.
